3rd period rally sends Eagles past Rapids

NOELVILLE, Ont. – Evan Ketner had a pair of third period goals along with an earlier assist allowing the Soo Eagles to rally for a 5-3 victory over the French River Rapids Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Noelville Arena.

The Rapids jumped out to a quick lead in this one getting a pair markers from Chris Atanas before the contest was 10 minutes old.

Sault Ste. Marie stormed back early in the middle stanza netting tallies 15 seconds from Roman Gaudet and Chris Skinner to level the affair at 2-2.

French River came back to go in front at 11:03 of the frame as Atanas finished off a hat trick.

In the third however, it was all Eagles as they rallied to earn the win.

After Ketner tied it four minutes in, Jake Palmerio notched the eventual game-winner at 6:21.

They then capped off the comeback on a Ketner insurance marker two minutes later to round out the scoring.

Gaudet and Sam Rappaport chipped in with two assists for the Eagles while Tyler McGregor doled out three helpers for French River.

Jack Deines made 25 saves to record the win for the Soo with Alec St. Georges seeing 49 in defeat for the Rapids.
