Atchison aids Cochrane in win over Blind River

COCHRANE, Ont. – The Cochrane Crunch got a pair of goals and two assists from Hunter Atchison to help lead them to a 7-3 come from behind victory over the Blind River Beavers Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

Atchison got the Crunch going with a power play marker midway through the opening period only to see Blind River strike twice later in the session getting a man advantage effort from Niibin Nashkawa and one at even strength from Austin Hickner.

The Beavers then made it 3-1 a minute and a half in the middle frame when Joseph Eben picked up one on the power play.

It was all Cochrane after that however as they stormed back with four unanswered goals before the stanza was complete to take a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Seamus Maguire made it 3-2 while his side was up a man at 7:17 before Kyle Sanford tied it eight minutes later.

Dustin Cordeiro’s league-leading 13th of the season at 15:58 proved to be the game-winner while Maguire’s second power play goal of the evening accounted for the fifth Crunch tally.

Cochrane put the game away in the third thanks to Atchison and Jeran Knorr to round out the scoring.

Kurtis David made 27 stops to record the win for the home side while Maxwell Barr was peppered with 65 shots in defeat for the Beavers.
