Cochrane rallies in win over Elliot Lake

COCHRANE, Ont. – The Cochrane Crunch rallied from an early two-goal deficit by notching six unanswered markers to defeat the Elliot Lake Wildcats 6-2 Thursday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

Tallies 32 seconds apart by Elliot Lake’s Brett Jacklin and Shane Woolsey staked the visitors to a 2-0 lead before the contest was five minutes old.

Cochrane began their comeback late in the opening stanza as they pulled to within one on Rory Milne’s fourth of the season with 16 seconds left in the stanza.

Brandon McReynolds tied it early in middle session with his fourth of the campaign at 1:53 while a Konnar Dechaine man advantage marker 14 minutes later proved to be the game-winner.

The Crunch then put the game away in the third by adding three more to round out the scoring.

Milne’s second of the night at 9:23, Nicolas Flanders just over a minute later and Darian Harris late accounted for the offensive efforts to secure the win for the home side.

McReynolds and Braeden Cross had two assists each for Cochrane.

Leighton Williams picked up the win for the Crunch making 23 saves in the victory while Matt Kostiw saw 47 pucks fired his way in defeat for the Wildcats.
