Eskis ice Eagles 5-2

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Iroquois Falls Eskis got two goals from Dillan Bruce along with a 53-save performance courtesy of Matthew Camilleri to help them in a 5-2 triumph over the Soo Eagles Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

Sam Rappaport gave the Eagles the lead 9:35 into the contest only to see Iroquois Falls strike three times in the latter stages of the frame and gain the upper hand.

After Alex Mitsionis tied it at 14:52, Tanner Bowditch tallied on the power play just under two minutes later to put the Eskis in front.

They then got the eventual game-winner from Bruce with 1:51 left in the first.

The lone marker of the middle session came of the stick of Samuel Vigneux for Iroquois Falls as they took a 4-1 cushion into the third.

Roman Gaudet’s 12th of the campaign brought Sault Ste. Marie closer with 8:43 left in regulation, but Bruce secured the win for the Eskis with an empty netter with seven seconds to go to round out the scoring.

Joshua Dejulio also had a big night for the home side as he dished out three assists in the game.

While Camilleri faced 55 pucks in a winning cause for Iroquois Falls, Jack Deines was also busy in the Eagles net as he stopped 47 of the 51 attempts fired his way in defeat.
