Milner’s hat trick lifts Crunch over Eagles

COCHRANE, Ont. – Aviv Milner had a trick while recent roster addition Michael Miller doled out three assists to help lift the Cochrane Crunch to a 6-1 victory over the Soo Eagles Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

The visiting Eagles did get on the board first midway through the opening session on a Jake Saxton effort.

Cochrane countered with the equalizer just 46 seconds later as Milner notched his first of the night to knot the affair at 1-1 through 20 minutes.

The score stayed that way until the 15:20 mark of the second stanza when John Stevenson potted the eventual game-winner.

The Crunch built on that on the next shift taking a 3-1 lead on another by Milner to put the home side up by two entering the third.

Cochrane then put the game away in the final frame tacking on three more to round out the scoring.

Seamus Maguire picked up one on the power play 58 seconds into the third before Milner capped off his three-tally night 4:04 while Jeremy McNeil rounded out the scoring with a man advantage effort with 13:49 left.

Dustin Cordeiro also had three assists to aid the Crunch cause and Taylor Armbruster added a couple of helpers.

Allan Menary made 21 saves to post the win for Cochrane with Jack Deines facing 36 shots in defeat for the Eagles.
