Rosen nets pair as Gold Miners top Eskimos 4-1

KIRKLAND LAKE – Kirkland Lake Gold Miners defenceman Dylan Rosen tallied twice to aid his club’s cause in a 4-1 triumph over the visiting Abitibi Eskimos Sunday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Rosen opened the scoring late in the first period, via the power play, as his point blast eluded Abitibi starter Sylvain Morin at 19:28.

The Gold Miners went up a pair early in the second as Mathieu Lecompte found the mark at 2:56.

Five minutes later the Eskimos cut into the deficit as Erik Robichaud buried his 31 goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game after 40 minutes.

It stayed that way until the late in the game when Kirkland Lake added a pair of shorthanded, empty net goals from D-men Rosen and Dan Morin to seal the victory.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the Gold Miners 21-19 in the tight-checking affair with Jeremy Pominville earning the win and Miron suffering the setback.
