Trio of NOJHL clubs tabbed in CJHL rankings

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League released their most recent Top 20 rankings Monday and a trio of Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs once again earned recognition.

The NOJHL-leading Powassan Voodoos were slotted fifth overall in the 132-team CJHL while the Soo Thunderbirds were rated 18th and the Cochrane Crunch garnered honourable mention status for a second straight week.

Heading into a home game tonight vs. Cochrane at 7:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex, the Voodoos continue to boast the best record in the league at 36-5-1-1 with their 74 points putting them nine ahead of the 30-11-4-1 Crunch and 10 better than the 31-11-1-1 Thunderbirds.

Powassan also sports the best winning percentage in the league at .860 while Sault Ste. Marie is next at .727 followed by Cochrane at .707.

Winners of 17 games in succession, has helped the Brooks Bandits (AJHL) take over as the new No. 1 team in the CJHL this week.

The Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) slipped to No. 2 while Les Cobras de Terrebonne (LHJQ) jumped to No. 3 nationally and Collège Français de Longueuil (LHJQ) was slotted in at No. 4.
