Wildcats’ Kittelberger commits to NCAA’s Stevenson University

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Elliot Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce that defenceman Josef Kittelberger has committed to play NCAA hockey next season at Stevenson University in Maryland.

The 20-year-old blueliner, who hails from Pittsburgh, Penn., is in his second season with Elliot Lake and has already set career highs in goals, assists and points with four, 17 and 21 respectively and currently sits second on the Wildcats in offensive production among D-men.

Kittelberger will by joining a Stevenson Mustangs program that will make their NCAA D-III debut in 2016-17 where they will compete out of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West conference.

“My two years in Elliot Lake has been a great experience,” commented Kittelberger on his time with the team and the NOJHL.

“The support from the fans and the atmosphere in Centennial Arena has been phenomenal,” added the Wildcats rearguard. “The bond I’ve shared with my teammates will make them life-long friends.”

Elliot Lake head coach Nathan Hewitt also gave his thoughts on the NCAA commitment for the club.

“Josef continues to be solid for us on the back end,” stated Hewitt.

“We’ve relied steadily on him to get the job done defensively and he’s been fantastic. He works hard on and off the ice, so I have no doubt that his success will translate to the next level,” added the Wildcats bench boss.
