NOJHL team previews: Iroquois Falls Eskis

SUDBURY – Here’s a look at another Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League team preview, this time featuring the Iroquois Falls Eskis.

TEAM: Iroquois Falls Eskis

HEAD COACH: Corey Bricknell

The new look Eskis have made the move from Mattawa as they take to the ice at Jus Jordan Arena in 2015-16.

Under new head coach Corey Bricknell, Iroquois Falls will look to impress right out of the gate.

NOTABLE NAMES:

NATHAN AVERY, DEFENCE: A returning player from last year’s team in Mattawa, Avery is a big strong stay at home D- man.

In 36 games last season, the 20-year-old Avery scored three times and added 13 assists for 16 points.

Coach Bricknell will be looking for lots of leadership from the Ottawa product.

BRETT OUDERKIRK, FORWARD: Another player who had made the move to Iroquois Falls is Brett Ouderkirk.

“Brett is very skilled and offensive forward with solid D-zone skills,” says Bricknell.

Hailing from Monkland, Ont., Ouderkirk is coming off a season in which he registered 32 points in 39 outings on 14 goals and 18 assists.

TANNER BOWDITCH, FORWARD: “Tanner is another player from the Mattawa team,” stated the Eskis bench boss. “He’s a skilled forward with great leadership and a great guy for the dressing room.”

From Uxbridge, Ont., Bowditch scored 10 times and set-up 12 others in 2014-15.

SHADOW REUBEN, FORWARD: Making the jump from to Jr. A is Moosenee product Shadow Reuben.

“Shadow is one of our 16-year-olds, who is strong and hard on the puck and has a Brett Hull type shot,” offered Bricknell.

SAMUEL VIGNEUX, FORWARD: Another rookie joining the Eskis is 16-year-old forward Vigneux.

Vigneux skated for the Kapuskasing Flyers of the Great North Midget League last year.
