Beaver’s Nadeau; Rapids’ Daoust; Rapids’ Siau named NOJHL’s 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Riley Nadeau of the Blind River Beavers along with Philippe Daoust and Levi Saiu of the French River Rapids have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 18.

RILEY NADEAU, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – The 20-year-old Jackson, Miss., product had a record-setting week for Blind River helping the Beavers pick up points in all three of their games during the time frame.

Nadeau began by scoring once and assisting on two others in OT defeat at the Soo Thunderbirds Thursday before tallying twice and setting up another in a shootout setback vs. the same Thunderbirds Saturday.

Then Sunday he set a Beavers franchise mark for most goals in a game with five, that also featured the game-winner, while chipping in with a helper in a triumph over Espanola.

Currently riding a five-game point streak, Nadeau has also etched his name on the score sheet in six of his past seven outings.

He has already set single season highs in tallies and points with 18 and 32 respectively and has matched a personal-best assist total in the campaign while moving into a tie for second in NOJHL scoring.

PHILIPPE DAOUST, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS – Daoust earns league 3 Stars accolades for the second straight week as his continued efforts has seen French River reel off four consecutive victories and improve to 6-1-1 in November.

The 17-year-old from Barrie, Ont., began his weekly efforts by notching the game-winning goal in a road triumph at Espanola.

From there he had another marker and two assists as French River defeated Kirkland Lake then finished up with a career-best four goals while setting up one more as the Rapids topped the Soo Eagles.

Daoust has now scored in four straight outings and has picked up points in nine in succession as well as in 13 of his previous 14 games.

He currently leads all NOJHL rookies in scoring with 28 points, which also ties him for ninth among all league skaters.

LEVI SIAU, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS – Another French River forward who had a big week was Siau as he racked up 10 points along the way in helping his side extend their current winning streak.

Included in the 17-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ont., efforts was notching a personal single-game best four tallies, including the decider, along with two assists for a career-best six points in the French River victory over Kirkland Lake Saturday.

He then notched another Sunday and doled out three assists as the Rapids knocked off the Eagles.

With 26 points in 22 outings for his club to date, Siau sits second on the squad in offensive production, just behind Daoust, will holding down a share of 13th spot overall in the entire NOJHL.
