4 NOJHLers named to Canada East selection camp roster

SUDBURY, Ont. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Junior Hockey League, announced Wednesday Team Canada East’s selection camp roster for the upcoming event, which will be held Dec. 6-9 at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke, Ont.

Among the 41 invitees were four players from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Earning invites from the NOJHL were defenceman Caleb Boman of the Thunderbirds and Ryan Mooney of the Rayside-Balfour Canadians along with forwards Darian Pilon of the Thunderbirds and Jamey Lauzon of the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.

All four were also members of Team NOJHL that took part in the recently held Eastern Canada Cup Challenge in Cornwall, Ont.

Gold Miners head coach and general manager Marc Lafleur is also a part of the Canada East staff serving as an assistant coach.

Of the players invited to the selection camp, 22 will be named to the Canada East roster that will compete in the World Junior A Challenge Dec. 13-19 in both Cobourg and Whitby, Ont.

“The players that were selected to represent the NOJHL at the selection camp are to be commended for their on-ice efforts so far this season and we wish them the best of luck in their endeavours to earn a spot on the Canada East roster,” offered league commissioner Robert Mazzuca.

“To be invited to the camp is a feat in itself when you consider all five eastern leagues in the CJHL had players under consideration,” added Mazzuca.
