6-point night for Bowditch as Eskis cruise by Rapids

NOELVILLE, Ont. – Tanner Bowditch scored four times and helped set-up two others for a six-point night in pacing the Iroquois Falls Eskis to a 9-3 victory over the French River Rapids in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday at Noelville Arena.

Iroquois Falls got off to a good start as they grabbed a 2-0 lead early on markers by Samuel Vigneux and Dillan Bruce.

Bret McInall got one back for French River 8:43 into the opening frame, but Bowditch notch his first of the evening three minutes later.

The power play allowed the Rapids to pull back within one courtesy of a McInall man advantage effort at 15:03, before Bowditch collected his second of the stanza at 17:39.

Up a man midway through the middle session, the Eskis made it 5-2 thanks to another by Bruce as he scored for a second time on the night and 10th overall.

A Tyler McGregor shorthanded tally with six minutes left accounted for French River’s third goal of the evening as the home side trailed by two after two.

Iroquois Falls put the game away in the final frame however erupting for four unanswered markers to secure the win.

Jacob Herrberg, via the power play, 59 seconds in, Stuart Harley at even strength a couple shifts later broke it open while Bowditch capped off his big night with two more later tallies to round out the scoring.

Jacob Erwin dished out four assists for the Eskis in the win while teammate David Osborne had a trio of helpers.

Caleb Rich and Taylor Karr had two assists apiece for the Rapids in defeat.

Shots on goal favoured Iroquois Falls by a 49-44 count with Matthew Camilleri picking up the victory and Alec St. Georges the loss.
