CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers scored three times before the contest was 11 minutes old to help send them on their way to an eventual 5-2 triumph over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians Thursday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at Chelmsford Arena.
Sam Harris got the Beavers going 54 seconds after the following face off as he picked up his 12th tally of the campaign.
It was more Blind River later in the session as they connected twice more later in the frame as Caleb Serre and Ryan Peck contributed in rapid succession to put the visitors up by three.
Rayside-Balfour did get one back before the first period was complete with Giordino Biondi striking shorthanded at 12:22.
Heading to the middle stanza, the Beavers put in two more to go up by four thanks to Serre at even strength and Brendan Young, with his club down a man, as they both reached the 17-goal plateau on the season.
A Kyle Liinamaa marker late in the second brought the hosts closer as he finished off an Alexander Fowke feed at 19:32 in what would prove to be the final goal of the night
In all the Blind River trio of Serre, Young trio combined for 11 points in the victory.
Beavers’ starter Jackson Hjelle made 33 stops to record the win while Sebastien Plamondon faced 35 attempts in defeat in the Canadians’ net.
