TIMMINS, Ont. – An impressive effort from Timmins Rock defenceman Kenyon Nyman saw him score once and dole out four assists to pace his side to a 6-1 win over the visiting French River Rapids Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at McIntyre Arena.

Setting the pace from the on-set Timmins did convert offensively just past the 11-minute mark of the first period as Rock captain Nicolas Pigeon made a couple of crafty moves entering the zone and fired a shot that Rapids’ starter could only get a piece as his got past him and slowly trickled over the goal line.

Another Timmins tally came a minute and a half later with Lucas Lowe skating down the right side before putting a cross-ice pass right to Felix Cadieux-Fredette finishing off the play from the left circle.

Adding to their edge with tallies seconds part early in the middle frame, the Rock extended their cushion to 4-0.

It began as Brady Harroun took a Nyman pass in the slot and fired one off Dyer and in a 4:17.

The hosts added another right off the draw with Nyman setting up Nolan Ring in a similar spot on the ice and watched him rip a shot into the top left-hand corner to chase Dyer in favour of back-up Ben Gustafson.

Timmins greeted him however with their fifth of the night compliments of Liam Wells firing upstairs on a play that saw Nyman collect his third helper of the period, in under a three-minute span.

Not done there, Nyman scored on the power play at 11:03 as his wrist shot from up top saw it clip off a Rapids player and go in via a change of direction.

A physical third period saw French River dash Rock netminder Jacob Brown’s shutout bid with just over four minutes remaining as Josh Russell finished off a one-timer of a cross-ice fed from Jordan Bax.

There would be no further scoring the rest of the way as the hosts skated away with the convincing triumph.
