Blackhawks double up Beavers 6-3

BLIND RIVER – The Mattawa Blackhawks got a pair of goals from Tanner Bowditch to help them double up the Blind River Beavers 6-3 Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Blind River Community Centre.

Each side tallied twice in the opening 20 minutes with Chandler Dorbin and Nathan Johnson connecting for Blind River while Jimmy Philbin and Reed Gregory countering for Mattawa.

The Blackhawks then jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the middle session on markers by Andy Williams and David Osborne.

After Chris Ordoobadi pulled the Beavers back to within one midway through the contest Bowditch struck at 16:06 to make it a 5-3 game through two periods of play.

Bowditch then capped off the scoring with a shorthanded tally early in the third to round out the scoring.

Nick Grose doled out three assists to aid Mattawa offensively with Tyler Broderson adding a pair of helpers of his own.

Cody Nicoll set-up two of the Blind River goals on the night.

Shots on goal favoured the Blackhawks 41-38 with Josh Horner securing the victory and Daniel Potter the loss.
