Blind River blitzes French River 11-2
BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The new-look Blind River Beavers, looking to reverse their fortunes in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, are off to a good start after disposing of the French River Rapids 11-2 Saturday at the Blind River Community Centre.
The Beavers came out flying scoring four times in the opening period to take early control of the contest.
It was Cole Murray, Alex Dajia, Sean Paterson and Brendan MacKenzie who notched those markers in the opening frame.
Blind River continued to roll from there tacking on another four goals in the middle session to grab an 8-0 lead after 40 minutes on tallies by Paterson, via the man advantage, Max Khull, Murray on the power play and Liam Sweeney.
Jason Uhl added to the Beavers cushion 2:50 into the third while Paterson capped off a hat trick with his second extra man marker at 9:43.
French River put an end to Blind River starter Martin Milosovich’s shutout attempt with tallies 40 seconds apart with under five minutes to play as Thomas Farrell connected on the power play at 15:19 followed by one at even strength on the next shift by B.J. Chard.
Uhl then rounded out the scoring with his second of the night at 17:56.
Milosovich made 21 saves to record his initial NOJHL victory.
Daniel Lofstrom started for the Rapids and suffered the loss making 24 stops while Chad Mosley turned aside 20 attempts in relief.
