Blind River rallies to top Soo Eagles

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period and went on to notch five unanswered markers to defeat the Soo Eagles 6-3 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Blind River Community Centre.

Sault Ste. Marie got off to a good road start grabbing a 2-0 lead after one period of play on a shorthanded marker at 6:31 by Jake Palmerio along with a Kendall Huckins even strength effort nine minutes later.

The middle session was scoreless until late in the stanza when Blind River’s Alex Dajia struck with just five seconds left in the frame.

Another man-down marker put the Eagles up 3-1 six and a half minutes into the third courtesy of Evan Ketner.

The Beavers began their comeback 47 seconds later thanks to Tyler Somers first NOJHL goal.

Blind River tied it with 8:10 to go on Liam Sweeney’s fourth of the season and then got the game-winner at 15:31 as Steven Khull picked up his initial league tally.

The Beavers kept coming and tacked on two more to complete the rally on efforts supplied by Cole Murray as well as Max Khull, who scored into an empty net.

Justin Phillips dished out three assists for the home side with Ted Davis and Jason Uhl having two helpers apiece for Blind River.

Martin Miloslavich made 31 saves to record the win for the Beavers while Jack Hickey faced 28 shots in defeat for the Eagles.
