Canadians complete home-and-home sweep of Beavers

CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians got multi-point efforts from five different skaters as they finished off a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Blind River Beavers winning 7-2 Sunday evening at Chelmsford Arena.

Kyle Fransen got the home side going 5:14 into the contest while teammate Cayse Ton added to the Canadians lead at 11:51.

Max Khull’s fourth of the season put the Beavers on the board a couple shifts later, but Rayside-Balfour answered that with a man advantage marker from Matthew Neault with 29 second left in the first.

Maxwell Barr came out and started in net for Blind River to begin the middle frame in place of starter Connor NeuRauter and the visitors struck quickly after the move as Alex Kidd scored on the power play at 1:16.

Fransen put the Canadians up 4-2 however at 11:11 connecting for a second time with this marker coming with his side up a man.

Rayside-Balfour then picked up another late tally at the end of a period with Ryan Erickson doing the damage at 19:56.

They then put the game away in the third getting one shorthanded from Jackson Gunner at 13:22 and their third power play goal of the evening, off the stick of Connor Brown, with 61 seconds to go to round out the scoring.

Fransen also had two assists for a four-point night while Ryan Mooney and Erickson dished out two helpers apiece.

MacKenzie Savard made 29 saves to earn the win for the Canadians.

NeuRauter suffered the loss for Blind River giving up three on 10 shots while Barr saved 21 of 25 in 40 minutes of relief.
