COCHRANE, Ont. – Owen Perala tallied twice and assisted on the game-winner to help lead the Cochrane Crunch to a 4-1 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter Friday at Tim Horton Events Centre.
Action in the opening period saw Cochrane collect the lone goal in the session when Billy Paschen picked up his 10th marker of the season, with Kobe Barrette and J.P. Moreira both adding their 10th assists of the campaign.
Moving to the middle stanza, Jordan Fielding notched the eventual decider 1:49 with help from Perala and Matthew Minichiello.
Kirkland Lake cut into the deficit a few shifts later on a Kyler Campbell effort, which was his 11th of the year.
Perala got that back though before the second was complete to put the hosts up 3-1 after 40 minutes as he hit the 20-goal plateau on the campaign.
In the third, Perala added one more during a man advantage opportunity at 7:57 to wrap things up offensively.
Shots on net finished up 39-36 in favour of the Gold Miners with Tomi Gagnon getting the win while Kohl Reddy suffered the defeat.
