Cochrane remains unbeaten in regulation with win over Timmins

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Cochrane Crunch forward trio of Braeden Cross, Konnar Dechaine and Brandon McReynolds combined for 10 points to help them defeat the Timmins Rock 8-3 Wednesday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at McIntyre Arena.

Timmins did open the scoring thanks to an early power play goal from Cory Sprague at 2:28.

Cochrane countered with McReynolds sixth of the season at 9:17 to knot the affair at 1-1.

Up a man, Cross put the visitors in front at 15:19 only to see Bain Cunningham tie it again just 55 seconds later.

The back and forth affair saw Cochrane regain the lead on the next shift when Cross collected his second of the period and eighth overall to make it 3-2 after one.

The Crunch would break the game open in the middle session as they outscored the Rock 4-1 to go up by four through two.

Lucas Robinson, Dechaine, Rory Milne and Darian Harris accounted for the Cochrane markers while Jared Hester supplied for goal for the Rock.

A Connor Lovie man advantage effort for Cochrane with 3:53 to go in the contest rounded out the night’s scoring.

Crunch defenceman Robinson also aided his club’s offensive cause with a three-point night.

Leighton Williams made 25 saves to record the win for Cochrane.

Matt Nixon started for Timmins and suffered the loss allowing four against on 25 attempts in 23 and a half minutes of work.

Caleb Harris also gave up four in relief as he made 22 stops.

With the result Cochrane remains unbeaten in regulation so far this season as they improved to 6-0-1-1 overall while Timmins saw a four-game win streak come to an end as they slipped to 4-2-0-0.
