IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Josh Dickson had a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, as the Timmins Rock topped the Hearst Lumberjacks 5-3 Thursday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League preseason affair held at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.

Dickson opened the scoring midway through the first period before teammate Stewart Parnell put the Rock up by two after 20 minutes.

Timmins then broke it open with a trio of tallies in the middle stanza to take a five-goal lead after two on a Johua Kego marker along with two more from Dickson.

Hearst battled back in the third to make it interesting.

Maxim Lacroix put the Lumberjacks on the board 65 seconds into the frame while William Page picked up his first of the preseason at 3:15.

Down a man, Hearst struck shorthanded after that thanks to Davely Fortin in what turned out to be the night’s final tally.

Darcy Haupt dished out three assists to aid the Rock offensive cause while Max Griffioen had a pair of helpers for the Lumberjacks.

Nicholas Dicks started for Timmins and picked up the win in net stopping 16 of 19 while Dylan Dallaire handled all 10 attempts he saw in nearly 10 minutes of third period relief.

Tomi Gagnon and Nic Tallarico split the goaltending duties for Hearst as the duo faced a combined 40 shots against in the setback.
