TIMMINS, Ont. – The Soo Eagles capped a successful three-game Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League road trip Saturday evening with a third consecutive road win and fifth in a row overall as they defeated the Timmins Rock 3-1 at McIntyre Arena in front of 729 fans.
After a scoreless opening frame, Bobby Price put the Eagles up just past the three-minute mark of the middle stanza.
Timmins would tie it however at 8:50 of the session as C.J. Bradburn converted during a Rock man advantage opportunity.
On a power play of their own, Sault Ste. Marie regained the lead in the latter stages of the period as Kellen Tharaldson put the visitors back on top at 16:19.
Nick Techel then made it 3-1 after two as he picked up his 17th tally of the campaign while extending a point streak to six in the process.
Eagles goalkeeper Carter McPhail did the rest to keep Timmins from getting closer as he handled 25 of the 26 shots he faced on the night to record the win, which was the fifth straight for the Soo.
Tyler Masternak faced 42 attempts in the loss for the Rock.
