Eskimos’ home win streak reaches double digits

IROQUOIS FALLS – A Ryan Kerr tally 4:17 into overtime lifted the Abitibi Eskimos to their 10th straight win on home ice as they edged the Sudbury Nickel Barons 4-3 at Jus Jordan Arena in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

Dylan Callaghan staked the Nickel Barons to an early lead for the only effort of the opening stanza.

Each side then found the back of the net twice in the second session with Brennan Roy and Brady Clouthier connecting for Abitibi and Brody Brunet striking twice for Sudbury.

The Eskimos then forced extra time with 2:58 left in regulation as Ryan Wildman buried a feed from Brenden Locke.

Kerr then potted the game-winner as the first OT was nearing completion to complete the come from behind victory.

Shots on goal favoured Abitibi by a 38-25 count with Sylvain Miron picking up the win in relief of Brody Wagner who played the first two periods for the Eskimos.

Michael Muzyka suffered the setback in a contest that saw his side earn a point in the defeat.
