Espanola blanks Blind River 4-0

BLIND RIVER – William King turned aside all 28 shots he faced to register his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout as he backstopped the Espanola Rivermen to a 4-0 victory over the Blind River Beavers Sunday afternoon at the Blind River Community Centre.

Espanola’s Brennen Dubchak notched the eventual game-winner with 3:18 remaining in the first period.

The Rivermen extended their cushion to 2-0 after 40 minutes as Brandon Janke scored the only marker of the middle session.

Corbin Bean added to the lead in the third as he made no mistake on a penalty shot attempt with 11:25 to go before Ryan Attwood iced it with an insurance goal in the late stages to round out the scoring.

Janke and Attwood also had assists for two-point afternoons for Espanola.

Dylan Knox stopped 46 of 50 in defeat for Blind River.
