Espanola to host NOJHL Showcase Jan. 10-11

ESPANOLA – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League first annual Showcase will be hosted by the Espanola Rivermen Jan. 10-11 at the Regional Recreation Complex.

A total of four games, which will count towards the regular season standings, will be contested starting with Espanola taking on the Elliot Lake Bobcats on day one at 7:30 p.m.

It will then conclude with a trio of games on day two with the Kirkland Lake meeting Blind River at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Soo Thunderbirds meeting the Abitibi Eskimos at 4:15 p.m. before concluding with the North Bay Trappers taking on the Sudbury Nickel Barons at 7:15 p.m.

The showcase will allow for coaches, managers and scouts of NCAA, CIS, CHL, ACHA and NHL programs to see the all players and of the NOJHL participating in one central location.

The Espanola franchise alone, which was based in North Bay in 2012-13, has seen a number of players from their graduate to the NCAA, CIS, and OHL.

This includes a talented list of players such as Tait Seguin (London Knights, OHL), Greg Dodds, (Western Ontario Mustangs, OUA), Trevor Hunt (Willston State College, NCAA), Cole Klippenstein (Southern Maine University, NCAA), Andrew Martin (Finlandia University, NCAA), Beau Orser (Oswego State University, NCAA), Samuel Blanchet (Southern Maine University, NCAA) and Justin Schneeberger (Colorado State University, ACHA) to name a few.
