FRENCH RIVER – French River Rapids goaltender Marshall Frappier was unbeatable handling all 47 shots fired his way Friday to post his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout in a 4-0 triumph over the Powassan Voodoos at Noelville Arena.
Neither side would connect offensively in a scoreless opening 20 minutes, but Hunter Brazier’s 12 of the campaign 43 seconds into the middle stanza proved to be the game-winner for the Rapids.
A late power play in the second session helped French River extend their lead when Philippe Daoust also scored for the 12th time in 2018-19 as his man advantage effort put the home side up by two.
In the third, Andrew Gavros added some insurance at 5:09 before Brazier rounded out the scoring with under four minutes left in regulation as his second of the evening and 13th of the season was supplied with his side up a skater.
Ryan Smith and Dustin Roitelman each chipped in with two assists for the Rapids to aid their offensive cause.
Christian Cicigoi was also busy in the Voodoos net as he faced 51 attempts in defeat for Powassan.
