GALLERY: Gobeil gets 2 as Hearst handles Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. David Gobeil had a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help lift the Hearst Lumberjacks to a 4-1 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Sunday at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Continuing with his impressive offensive display of late, Hearst’s Olivier Cloutier-Faucher tallied for a third straight outing and fifth time in six games as his 10th of the campaign put the guests in front just 1:13 into the contest.

The Lumberjacks added another late in the opening frame on Gobeil’s initial marker to go up by a pair.

Heading deep into the middle stanza, the visitors went up by three when Jake Desando collected his fifth of the campaign at 18:19 to put Hearst up by three after 40 minutes.

Kirkland Lake got themselves on the board early in the third compliments of Nick Wagner as his unassisted effort spoiled the shutout bid of Lumberjacks’ netminder Liam Oxner.

Regrouping, Hearst added some insurance, just over a minute later, as Gobeil collected his second of the day to help secure the road victory as that rounded out the scoring.

The Lumberjacks also out shot the Gold Miners 35-18 with Oxner picking up the win while Kohl Reddy suffered the defeat.
