HEARST, Ont. – Bradley Golant tallied twice in the late going to break a tie game and help the Hearst Lumberjacks defeat the Timmins Rock 5-3 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest Friday at Claude Larose Arena.
A fast-paced first frame saw both sides score once as Eamon Bollinger started Timmins off with his sixth of the campaign just past the five-minute mark only to see Blaise Arkle notch his 11th at 11:50 for the Lumberjacks.
On the power play in the second period helped Hearst take the lead on an Max Johnson effort before Matt Capisciolto countered for the visitors.
Back and forth they went with Justin Miron securing his first NOJHL goal for the Lumberjacks at 14:36.
The Rock got that back at 1:52 of the third as Josh Anderson picked up a point in a fifth straight outing to knot the affair at 2-2.
Later in the session, Golant broke the tie for good with 5:52 remaining in regulation as Hearst went in front for a final time.
Golant then iced it with his second of the period in the late going to secure the triumph for the home team.
Max Griffioen dished out two assists for the winners.
Lumberjacks goalkeeper Tomi Gagnon made 33 saves to record the win while Tyler Masternak faced 31 attempts in the Timmins net in defeat.
