KIRKLAND LAKE – Luc Soares had a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help lift the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners to their fourth straight win and league-leading 11th victory of the season as the doubled up the Powassan Voodoos 4-2 Friday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

The Gold Miners jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes on markers by Charles Bruneau-Crete and Soares.

Soares then supplied the eventual difference maker in the late stages of the middle stanza beating Powassan starter Jack Ondrovic at 18:49.

Battling back in the final frame the Voodoos pulled back to within one on tallies supplied by Jeremy St. Pierre at 4:19 and Garry Mindus four and a half minutes later.
