Hat tricks highlights Timmins’ 6th straight victory

TIMMINS, Ont. – The red-hot Timmins Rock got three goals apiece from Tristan Salesse and Jordan Rendle to pace them to a convincing 10-2 triumph over the Iroquois Falls Eskis Wednesday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at McIntyre Arena.

The power play allowed the Rock to get on the board first thanks to Andrew Castagna’s initial NOJHL marker at 4:39.

Jacob Erwin’s eighth of the campaign 11 minutes later tied it for the Eskis, but Timmins pumped in two more before the period was complete courtesy of Rendle and Devin Panzeca.

The Rock took control of the game in the middle session as they struck four times with still a half a game to play.

Salesse made it 3-1 early in the stanza while Zachary Kercz and Rendle connected on the man advantage 1:45 apart before Salesse added another to make it 7-1 after 40 minutes.

Rendle capped off his hat trick with a shorthanded effort 2:13 into the third while David Osborne tacked on his ninth of the season for Iroquois Falls during a power play midway through the period.

Timmins then rounded out the scoring with Salesse’s third of the night and a second from Kercz to finish things off.

Ryan Theriault and Bain Cunningham doled out three assists each to aid the winner’s cause, with Salesse having a couple helpers of his own for a five-point night.

Matt Nixon made 36 saves to pick up the win for the Rock, who won for a sixth straight time.

Joe Hacker started for the Eskis and played one period in suffering the loss giving up three goals on 13 attempts.

Dan Davies came in to begin the second and went the rest of the way stopping 26 of 33 if 40 minutes of relief.
