POWASSAN, Ont. – Nicholas Tallarico handled all 18 shots he faced to post his second shutout of the season as the surging Hearst Lumberjacks went on to blank the Powassan Voodoos 5-0 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at the Powassan Sportsplex.
Picking up the initial power play of the evening helped Hearst open the scoring five and a half minutes into the contest as Mathew Eardley notched his third of the season.
The Lumberjacks added another before the first was down off the stick of Daniel Fisher to go up by a pair.
It was more Hearst in the middle stanza as they added two more to go up by four after two on a shorthanded effort from Christian James-McDonald 47 seconds in while Alec Johnson, via the man advantage, in the back half of the session added the other.
In the final frame, the Lumberjacks collected their third extra-man marker of the night with 3:51 to go from J.J. Berdal to cap off Hearst’s sixth straight victory.
Christian Cicigoi in the Voodoos net faced 44 shots in defeat.
