Iroquois Falls rolls past French River

NOELVILLE, Ont. – The Iroquois Falls Eskis got two tallies apiece from David Stickney and Wade Auger along with a three-point night via Dillan Bruce to help power them past the French River Rapids 9-2 Monday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Noelville Arena.

Iroquois Falls started off offensively 6:45 into the contest as Shadow Reuben notched his 18th goal of the season on an assist by Bruce as the Eskis duo extended consecutive game point streaks to an impressive 13 and 17 respectively.

Stickney then connected on the power play 47 seconds later to put the visitors up by a pair.

French River got one back before the session was complete thanks to Matthieu Verreault’s fifth of the campaign at 15:57.

It was all Eskis after that however as they tallied three times in the middle stanza on efforts supplied by Phil Caron, Ryan Gruszka and Stickney to go up 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Iroquois Falls kept coming in the third picking up four more goals to go up by eight thanks to a pair from Auger and singles from Blake Holowaty and Bruce.

The Rapids finished off the night’s scoring with 5:40 to go from Will Frustaglio as he picked up his second of the season to wrap things up.

A total of 11 Eskis’ skaters had at least one point on the night.

Artem Bortovskiy made 38 saves to record the win for Iroquois Falls.

Korlan Vader started for French River and suffered the loss allowing five on 39 attempts with Scott Adams stopping 18 of 22 in 20 minutes of relief.
