KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners broke a tie game by notching the night’s final three goals to help propel them to a 5-2 victory over the Blind River Beavers in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Friday at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

It was the visiting Beavers that opened the scoring during the initial man advantage opportunity of the evening when Sam Harris notched his fourth tally of the campaign at 8:11 of the first period.

Moving on to the middle session, Kirkland Lake tied it at 5:41 when Gregory Trudeau-Paquet tapped in his team-leading 11th tally to level the proceedings.

Down a man later in the frame, Kirkland Lake struck shorthanded at 14:21 on an Alex Ellie effort only to see Blind River come right back on the same power play and pick up the equalizer off the stick of Caleb Serre as he supplied his team-best 11th to knot the affair once more.

Action in the back and forth contest saw the Gold Miners go back on top as Sam Ellwood converted during a man advantage opportunity at 16:12.

The fourth power play marker of the night saw Kirkland Lake add some insurance 7:19 into the third that saw Hunter Foreshew knock in his fourth of year.

Vinny DeSanctis then finished things off for the Gold Miners with his fourth at 12:39 to round out the scoring.

Blake Bonnar had two assists for Kirkland Lake in the triumph.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the Gold Miners by a 34-24 count with Gregory Brassard earning the win while Garret Boyonoski suffered the loss.
