Kirkland Lake swamps Blind River

BLIND RIVER – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners trio of Zach Pease, Jeremy Dumont and Ryan Swain combined for 14 points to help their side sink the Blind River Beavers 11-3 Sunday afternoon in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Blind River Community Centre.

The opening 10 minutes of the contest was even with each side scoring once as Dumont getting the Gold Miners on the board 2:26 in before Chris Ordoobadi countered via the power play for the Beavers at 7:10.

Kirkland Lake took control from there striking three times before the session was complete on efforts supplied by Ryan Aubertin, Pease and Joel Fortin.

The visitors continued to roll in the middle stanza tacking on four more tallies, including a pair by Dumont, along with singles from Charles Etienne-Crete and Pease.

Ordoobadi’s second of the afternoon 56 seconds into the final frame and one by Nathan Hans midway through the period drew the home side closer, but the Gold Miners finished off their convincing triumph with two late goals by Aubertin to complete a hat trick and reach 21 markers on the season along with a Swain tally.

Final shots on goal in the game were 57-19 in favour of the Gold Miners with Josh Erickson picking up the win and Braddock Baalerud the loss.
