GALLERY: Kirkland Lake takes 2nd straight against Timmins

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – Kirkland Lake Gold Miners’ defenceman Quinn Schneidmiller scored once and dished out two assists to help propel his side to a 5-1 victory over the Timmins Rock Thursday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

After defeating the Rock in Timmins Sunday, the Gold Miners kept it going at home on this night starting with Christian Snyder’s initial NOJHL goal 62 seconds into the contest.

A pair of man advantage markers in the first half of the middle stanza helped the hosts go up by three as Max Newnam and Jaren Bolt both converted on the power play.

Schneidmiller then upped Kirkland Lake’s cushion at 11:25 to make it 4-0 to end Rock starter Tyler Masternak’s night in favour of Nicholas Dicks.

Timmins did get one back late in the second thanks to Derek Seguin however Alex Elie iced it deep in regulation as he rounded out the scoring with his club’s third extra-man effort of the night.

Gregory Trudeau-Paquet doled out two assists to aid the Gold Miners’ cause.

In net Gregory Brassard made 16 stops to register the win.

Masternak started for the Rock and suffered the setback allowing four goals on 16 attempts while Dicks saved eight of nine in lengthy relief.
