Mattawa adds to coaching staff

MATTAWA –– The Mattawa Blackhawks have added to their bench staff for the 2014-15 season with the appointment of Eric Swanick as associate and goaltending coach for the upcoming season.

Eric, who hails from Bricktown, N.J., played four years of Junior A throughout Canada and the U.S. and also played professionally in the ECHL with the Chicago Express and the Florida Everblades.

He also runs successful hockey schools in the New Jersey area and has acted as a player advisor in the past.

“We are thrilled to have Eric come to the Mattawa Blackhawks organization,” said Mattawa president and general manager David Beauchamp.

“Eric brings experience from playing junior A and he can provide advice to our young players as they become accustom to the lifestyle of Junior A Hockey. He is also going to be the goaltending coach and will help develop our goaltenders during the season.”

Swanick is looking forward to his role.

“I am very excited to be joining the team staff in Mattawa and am looking to contribute day in and day out.”

The Blackhawks hope to announce the signing of a local product as their second coach in the coming days.
