NOJHL alumnus Chenier on NHL Watch List

SUDBURY, Ont. – National Hockey League Central Scouting announced Tuesday that last season’s Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League rookie of the year and Rayside-Balfour Canadians alumnus Bradley Chenier was among those named to its preliminary players to watch list for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Chenier was tabbed with a “C” rating by NHLCS with thelistings having those players tabbed as a potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round selection.

NHL Central Scouting’s prospect list is updated throughout the season as scouts travel to see the players live.

The 17-year-old Val Caron, Ont., product led all NOJHL rookies in offensive production last season with 72 points in 52 outings.

His 29 goals also topped all first-year players in the league and he also had the most assists among rookies with 43.

The forward was named NOJHL Gongshow Gear rookie of the month for November of 2015 and also skated for Team NOJHL at Eastern Canada Cup Challenge.

Currently a member of the Ontario Hockey League’s North Bay Battalion, Chenier has scored twice in three games early in the OHL campaign.

A fourth-round choice, 77th overall, in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection by the Battalion, Chenier picked up one assist in nine games as a call-up with North Bay last season.

The 2017 NHL Draft will be held next June at the United Center, the home of the Chicago Blackhawks.
