SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced their most recent the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week, for the period ending Nov. 15, have been awarded to the Powassan Voodoos trio of goaltender Garrett Forrest along with forwards Tyler Peters and Tyler Gervais-Rolfe.
GARRETT FORREST, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS – In two starts last week the 18-year-old Ashburn, Virginia native was outstanding earning a pair of impressive victories.
He began by kicking out 51 of the 52 shots he faced last Friday as Powassan stopped the Timmins Rock 5-1.
One night later Forrest stood tall once again steering aside all 35 attempts fired his way to register his first NOJHL shutout, a 2-0 triumph over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians.
For the week he finished with a stingy 0.50 goals-against average and a stellar .989 save percentage.
On the season, Forrest leads all NOJHL netminders in save percentage at .939 and is third in average at 2.19 while sporting a 9-1-0-0 overall record.
TYLER PETERS, (F) – POWASSAN VOODOOS – The 19-year-old Powassan product was a key cog in helping his hometown Voodoos skate to three impressive victories last week.
Peters began by scoring twice, including the game-winner, and adding a pair of assists as his club earned a road win vs. French River on Nov. 11.
Two nights later he once again notched a couple of markers, which included the winner and set-up another as the Voodoos topped Timmins at the Powassan Sportsplex.
The forward then capped off a solid eight-point week by assisting on the game-winner as the Voodoos blanked Rayside-Balfour Saturday.
Overall Peters is tied for fourth in league offensive production with 38 points in 19 games with 18 tallies and 20 helpers to his credit.
He has also only been held off the score sheet twice so far this season.
TYLER GERVAIS-ROLFE, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – An unheralded member of Powassan’s success so far this season has been Gervais-Rolfe.
He amassed seven points in the Voodoos three triumphs last week as he nearly doubled his season totals to date.
The 18-year-old from Shelburne, Ont., started with a career-high four-point night on a goal and three assists to help pace his side past French River on Remembrance Day.
Gervais-Rolfe followed that up with a couple of helpers in the Friday the 13th decision against Timmins.
He then finished things off by supplying the game-winning goal in the victory vs. Rayside-Balfour last Saturday.
On the season the Voodoos forward is averaging close to a point-per-game, with 16 in 17 games on four markers and a dozen helpers.
Gervais-Rolfe has already matched his assist total from last season and is just five points shy of setting a new personal NOJHL season-high in offensive numbers.
