NOJHL announces  Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that forward David Osborne of the Iroquois Falls Eskis, Dominik Lavergne of the Espanola Express and Michael Silveri of the Powassan Voodoos  have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week, for the period ending Jan. 10.

DAVID OSBORNE, (F) IROQUOIS FALLS ESKIS – In three games last week the 19-year-old Nanaimo, B.C. native amassed six points helping the Eskis pick-up four points in the league standings.

Osborne began with a goal and an assists in a narrow 3-2 setback at Kirkland Lake Friday before doing likewise in  road triumph at Blind River Saturday.

He they capped off his run by notching the game-winner and setting up another tally as Iroquois Falls won at Timmins Sunday afternoon.

With markers in four straight outings, Osborne raised his team-leading point total to 47, which includes25 goals.

DOMINIK LAVERGNE, (F) ESPANOLA EXPRESS – In three NOJHL contests last week the 18-year-old Laverge paced Espanola offensively with five goals.

The Ottawa product started off with a tally helping the Express rally past Powassan.

Lavergne also scored in a defeat vs. Rayside-Balfour before capping off his week by notching a hat trick in a triumph over French River.

Since joining the Espanola roster, he has picked up eight goals and four assists in 18 games.

MICHAEL SILVERI, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – A four-game week saw Silveri get on the scoresheet in all of them with his efforts aiding the Voodoos secure five points with a 2-1-1-0 record.

The 18-year-old from North Bay began by scoring twice, which included the game-winner, in a victory over Rayside-Balfour.

He tacked on another two more markers in an away loss at Espanola before notching another game-winner at Rayside-Balfour.

Silveri then finished up with an assist in an overtime defeat to the league-leading Soo Thunderbirds.

He enters play this week with 18 goals and 19 assists to his credit for 37 points.
