NOJHL announces  Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Cole Hepler of the Elliot Lake Wildcats, Logan Fredericks of the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and Aaron Kerr of the Timmins Rock have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week, for the period ending Feb. 7.

COLE HEPLER, (F) ELLIOT LAKE WILDCATS – The hottest player in the NOJHL continued his torrid scoring pace last week as he extended his current league season-best consecutive game point streak to 21 in succession.

The 20-year-old native of Sarver, Penn., amassed six points over the weekend as the Wildcats went 2-0-1-0 on a three-game road trip.

Hepler began with a pair of goals and an assist in a victory at Iroquois Falls Friday and followed that up with another marker and a helper as Elliot Lake were winners in Cochrane Saturday.

The Wildcats offensive leader then finished off with his 33rd tally of the season in an overtime setback at Timmins on Sunday afternoon.

Hepler enters play this week tied for eighth in NOJHL scoring with 63 points in 35 games played.

LOGAN FREDERICKS, (F) KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS – An eight-point week by Fredericks aided the Gold Miners efforts in securing four points in three outings.

The 20-year-old product of Millstone Township, N.J., began by notching the game-winner in the final seconds, to go along with an earlier assist, as Kirkland Lake defeated Cochrane late on Thursday.

Friday evening he added two more markers to his season totals in defeat vs. the Crunch before finishing off with a goal and three assists in a triumph over the Soo Eagles Saturday.

Fredericks is currently riding an 11-game point streak, which includes six multi-point contests in a row.

AARON KERR, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – Since returning to the organization in early December, Kerr has paid dividends for his hometown Timmins side.

Averaging nearly two points-per-game in 16 contests with the Rock, the 19-year-old added four more last week as Timmins skated to a pair of victories.

Kerr began with a goal and two assists Friday as the Rock defeated the visiting Soo Eagles at McIntyre Arena.

Sunday afternoon he set-up another tally in an overtime decision over Elliot Lake.

Kerr now has points in five straight games along with 30 in total in his 16 outings on 13 markers and 17 helpers.
