NOJHL announces Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Cody Gratton of the Cochrane Crunch along with Tyler Broderson and Tanner Bowditch of the Mattawa Blackhawks have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week for the period ending Dec. 7.

CODY GRATTON, (F) COCHRANE CRUNCH – Gratton, the NOJHL’s leading point producer, continued his torrid offensive pace by playing a role in 10 of the 13 goals the Crunch scored in a three-game weekend road sweep.

The 20-year-old Sudbury product notched eight tallies and added two assists as Cochrane skated to away victories at Sault Ste. Marie, Blind River and Elliot Lake, which included hat tricks vs. the Thunderbirds and Beavers.

Having amassed 18 points during a five-game goal and point streak, Gratton tops all NOJHL skaters in markers (34), points (55), shorthanded goals (10) and game-winners (6).

TYLER BRODERSON, (F) MATTAWA BLACKHAWKS – The veteran forward, who hails from St. Louis Park, Minn., played a big part in the Blackhawks first two-game winning streak of the season.

The 20-year-old Broderson started his week by scoring twice in a 4-3 upset win over defending league champion Kirkland Lake Saturday.

He followed that up with his first NOJHL hat trick Sunday and by assisting on the game-winner as Mattawa skated past Abitibi 7-4 at Mike Rodden Arena.

On the season Broderson leads his club in goals with 11 and is tied for the team point lead with 20.

TANNER BOWDITCH, (F) MATTAWA BLACKHAWKS – The 19-year-old Uxbridge, Ont., native made an immediate contribution to his new team as the former Elliot Lake forward fired home the game-winner in the triumph over Kirkland Lake Saturday.

Bowditch then doled out three assists in Sunday’s victory over the Eskimos.

In 17 combined outings with the Blackhawks and Wildcats this season Bowditch has five goals and eight helpers to his credit.
