NOJHL announces Gongshow Gear players of the month for October
SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday its respective Gongshow Gear Inc., player, defenceman, goaltender and rookie of the month for October.
GONGSHOW GEAR PLAYER OF THE MONTH – CHRIS MURPHY, (F) SOO EAGLES: In 11 outings last month the 20-year-old forward from Livonia, Mich., amassed an impressive 24 points on nine goals and 16 assists.
Murphy accomplished this by getting on the scoresheet nine times in October, which included a pair of five-point contests and six multi-point affairs.
Currently riding a four-game point streak, Murphy sits second in overall NOJHL offensive production with 31 points, including a league-best 18 assists.

GONGSHOW GEAR DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – PHIL CARON, (D) IROQUOIS FALLS ESKIS: Last month was another productive one for the first-year blueliner as the 16-year-old from Timmins, Ont., racked up nine assists in 11 games in October.
Despite being one of the youngest players in the NOJHL, Caron leads all league defencemen in points with 18 in 19 games and is just one off the overall total among rookies.
He has scored twice and helped set-up 16-others for Iroquois Falls so far in 2016-17.
Caron also has a modest three-game point streak on the go.

GONGSHOW GEAR GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – NICHOLAS CAMPBELL, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS: Part of the Voodoos success last month that saw them lose just once in 10 games and move into top spot in the overall league standings was the efforts between the pipes of Campbell.
October saw the 17-year-old from Embrun, Ont., go 5-0 in five starts for Powassan.
The rookie netminder allowed just nine goals against last month in those five victories, which included a pair of overtime triumphs.
In the time frame Campbell boasted a solid 1.38 goals-against average along with a .942 save percentage.

GONGSHOW GEAR ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – BRADEY JOHNSON, (F) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS: Not only did Johnson average a point-per-game last month for Rayside-Balfour, he also signed a contract with the Ontario Hockey League’s Niagara Ice Dogs.
In 11 contests in October with the Canadians, Johnson scored four times and supplied seven assists.
He is also riding a four-game point streak with RBC and presently tops the NOJHL in rookie scoring with 19 points in as many contests with eight markers and 11 helpers to his credit.
