NOJHL announces its Eastlink 3 Stars of the week
Powassan’s Bowman & McDonald; Blind River’s Peck earn weekly accolades

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday forward Parker Bowman and goaltender Nate McDonald of the Powassan Voodoos along with Blind River Beavers’ defenceman Cole Peck have been named as its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week for the period ending April 16.

PARKER BOWMAN, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – The rookie forward continues to impress for the Voodoos, both offensively and defensively in the postseason.

In Game 1 of the finals, Bowman tallied twice, including notching the game-winner, as Powassan beat Blind River 4-1 on Friday.

The 17-year-old from Bracebridge, Ont., then chipped in with an assist in his club’s 3-2 triumph on Saturday.

Bowman currently leads all NOJHL skaters in playoff goals with 10 and sits third overall in points with 18.

NATE MCDONALD, (G) POWASSAN VOODOOS – The NOJHL’s most valuable player continues to shine for the Voodoos.

McDonald won both of his starts last week helping Powassan go up 2-0 on Blind River in the league finals.

He made 28 saves in each of the first two contests and remains perfect in the playoffs with an impressive 10-0 record to date.

McDonald leads all netminders in goals-against average at 1.71 and is third in save percentage at .938.

The Niagara University NCAA commit also boasts one playoff shutout and saw action in 57 and half minutes of another for Powassan.

COLE PECK, (D) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – Through the first two games of the NOJHL league championship series, Peck continues to log big minutes and provide significant contributions on both ends of the ice for the Beavers in their franchise record-setting run to the finals.

He added an assist in Blind River’s 3-2 Game 2 setback at Powassan Saturday to raise his playoff point totals to 15, which leads all NOJHL defencemen heading into Game 3 of the NOJHL finals Thursday at home.

In his first 14 postseason contests, the 20-year-old native of Ottawa, Ont., has produced four goals and helped set-up 11 others along the way to pace all league blueliners.
