NOJHL East Division quarter-final series preview: Timmins Rock vs. Iroquois Falls Eskis

SUDBURY, Ont. – Playoff action in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s East Division will get underway Saturday evening at McIntyre Arena in Timmins as the hometown Rock entertain the visiting Iroquois Falls Eskis in Game 1 of their quarter-final series at 7:30 p.m.

The best-of-three match-up will then shift to Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls for Game 2 Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Should the series goes the distance, Game 3 will be held in Timmins on Wednesday and would feature a 7:30 p.m. start.

During the course of the 2015-16 campaign the two clubs met 10 times with the Rock taking the season set 7-3.

After The Eskis won the first match-up, Timmins took the next six get togethers, before the Eskis rebounded to capture two of the last three, including their last meeting on Feb. 15 by a 4-2 count.

Tristan Salesse was the top point getter for Timmins in the season series vs. Iroquois Falls amassing 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists.

NOJHL CCM Hockey second team all-star Zachary Kercz was next with 18 points, which included a team-best 10 goals scored.

Ryan Kerr followed Kercz with 14 points as he tallied once and set-up 13 others along the way.

Jacob Erwin was the top point producer for the Eskis against the Rock this season as he picked up 18 points on seven markers and 11 helpers.

David Osborne’s 16 points was next on Iroquois Falls vs. Timmins as he collected eight goals and as many assists.

Tanner Bowditch also chipped in with nine points in games against the Rock as he found the back of the net on three occasions and dished out a half dozen helpers.

Logan Ferrington went 4-2 in his starts for Timmins against Iroquois Falls while Matthew Nixon was 3-0 and Devon Debastos 0-1.

Matthew Camilleri and Joe Sheppard each had a win against the Rock while serving between the pipes for the Eskis.

The winner of this series will take on the Cochrane Crunch in East Division semifinal action while Powassan and Kirkland Lake square off in the other in a pair of best-of-seven affairs.
