NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Cade Herd of the Powassan Voodoos, the Soo Thunderbirds’ Noah Boman and Cameron Clark of the Hearst Lumberjacks have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Feb. 10.

CADE HERD, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – In a trio of outings last week, the 19-year-old native of Cobalt, Ont., etched his name on the score sheet in each of them while helping Powassan pick up a pair of victories.

Highlighting his efforts was a one-goal, two-assist performance in a triumph over Espanola Saturday night, where Herd reached the 140-point plateau in his NOJHL career, which established a new Voodoos’ franchise record for the most of any player, surpassing the old mark that was held by Tyson Gilmour.

Presently pacing Powassan offensively in 2018-19, the veteran forward has tallied 20 times and helped set-up 29 others so far this season.

NOAH BOMAN, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – In a home-and-home match-up with the rival Soo Eagles, Boman had multi-point affairs in both of them, registering five assists along the way, giving him two or more helpers in four straight games.

The 18-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product is currently riding an eight-game point streak where he has scored three times and doled out 13 assists and also has points in 13 of his previous 14 contests.

His offensive run now has him leading the Thunderbirds in scoring with 65 points this season on 21 goals and an NOJHL-best 44 assists.

CAMERON CLARK, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Clark connected in each of the three road games the Lumberjacks played over the weekend, as they came away victorious in each of them.

The 19-year-old from Dayton Beach, Fla., started by tallying twice as Hearst won in Powassan on Friday.

Saturday saw him notch the game-winning goal and add an assist in a triumph vs. French River in a neutral site match-up in St.-Charles before finishing up Sunday with a second consecutive winner in a victory at Kirkland Lake.

Clark now boasts 15 goals and 16 assists in his first 44 NOJHL contests.
