NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forward Jackson Truchan (Soo Thunderbirds); goaltender Noah Beaulne (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and defenceman Kenyon Nymon (Timmins Rock) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 16.

JACKSON TRUCHAN, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Contributing offensively in all three of Sault Ste. Marie’s victories, Truchan found the back of the net in each match-up.

Hailing from Farmington Hills, Mich., the 19-year-old tallied five times in total, including notching a game-winner, while helping the Thunderbirds get back to their winning ways.

Truchan will enter play this week riding a current team-high seven-game point streak, that has seen him score six times and help out on a trio of others.

NOAH BEAULNE (G) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS – Appearing in both of Greater Sudbury’s contests last week, Beaulne picked up the win in each of them to aid in sending the Cubs into first place overall in the NOJHL standings.

Coming off the bench early in a come from behind triumph over Espanola Thursday, the 18-year-old netminder from Hanmer, Ont., also backstopped his side to a road decision in Elliot Lake Saturday, which included handling a third period penalty shot attempt.

Beaulne completed his week with a 1.09 goals-against average along with an equally solid .968 save percentage.

KENYON NYMAN, (D) TIMMINS ROCK – A busy four-game week during the time frame saw the 20-year-old blueliner from Maple Ridge, B.C., score once and dish out six assists helping Timmins come away victorious in three of those outings.

Nyman’s efforts included him helping set-up the game-winning goal in two of the wins.

Boasting six multi-point performances so far this season, the Rock defender currently leads all NOJHL defenceman in offensive production with 18 points, including 14 helpers.
