SUDBURY, Ont. – A trio of Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League set-up men in Daniel Beaupre (Soo Thunderbirds); Zachary Demers (Hearst Lumberjacks) and Nicolas Pigeon (Timmins Rock) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending February 19.
DANIEL BEAUPRE, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – The 19-year-old North Vancouver, B.C., product doled out seven assists in the Thunderbirds’ two triumphs during the time frame.
This included a couple of helpers in a road victory at Greater Sudbury and a league season-high five in a one-sided home win over Cochrane.
Having etched his name on the game sheet in five straight outings, Beaupre now has a combined 37 points so far this season in 42 contests and boasts nine multi-point outings on the campaign.
ZACHARY DEMERS, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Demers set-up seven of the 12 tallies Hearst had in a weekend sweep of Kirkland Lake.
This included assists on both game-winners as part of his 16th and 17th match-up in 2022-23 where he registered two, or more, points.
The 20-year-old forward from St-Hubert, Que., now has 140 points through his first 90 NOJHL contests, including dishing out 109 helpers.
NICOLAS PIGEON, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – The league’s leading point producer added five more to his totals last week to help the first place overall Rock extend their current winning streak 12 in succession.
This included assisting on the winning tally in both of Timmins’ triumphs in the period.
The 20-year-old Pigeon, who hails from Aylmer, Que., presently paces all NOJHL skaters in assists and points with 65 and 84 respectively. He also has at least one point in each of the Rock’s 12 straight victories while having only been held pointless just once since back in October.
