NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that defenceman Andrey Manov (Blind River Beavers); forward Devin Mauro (Espanola Paper Kings) and goaltender Ethan Dinsdale (Hearst Lumberjacks) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending February 26.

ANDREY MANOV, (D) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – Currently calling Vancouver, B.C., home the 19-year-old Manov picked up a total of seven points in the trio of victories Blind River had last week to aid in his club in extending their current winning streak to 12 in succession.

The blueliner began with his first NOJHL hat trick, featuring the game-winner, and added an assist, in a home ice triumph last Monday versus the Soo Eagles; had a helper in defeating Greater Sudbury Friday, then finished off with a goal and an assist in a road decision over the Eagles Saturday.

Since joining the Beavers back in early December, Manov has 18 points in 24 outings. Also, three of his tallies have been deciders and Blind River is a perfect 12-0-0-0 when he has picked up at least one point in a contest.

DEVIN MAURO, (F) ESPANOLA PAPER KINGS – Mauro has been clutch for Espanola as of late, having registered three straight game-winning goals for the Paper Kings, including in both of their two wins during the time frame, on a pair of shorthanded breakaway markers.

The 18-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product began with each of his team’s two tallies against the Cubs Thursday, then added another deciding man-down effort, along with a couple of assists, Saturday vs. the Thunderbirds.

Since returning to the NOJHL back in January, Mauro has provided six multi-point affairs in his eight match-ups and is currently riding a five-game goal and point streak.

ETHAN DINSDALE, (G) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Getting the starting nod in a pair of divisional contests last week, Dinsdale was solid in both of them, backstopping Hearst to wins over Timmins and Powassan.

The 18-year-old from Ottawa began with 38 stops and allowed just one to get past him in a road decision over the Rock, then was credited with another 34 saves as the Lumberjacks bested the Voodoos to finish his weekly run with a goals-against average of 1.49, along with an equally solid .960 save percentage.

Dinsdale currently sits fourth among league netminders in victories (19) and also sits in the NOJHL Top 10 with his .919 save mark and 2.56 GAA.
