NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that the goaltending trio of Noah Metivier (Greater Sudbury Cubs); Landon Miller (Soo Thunderbirds) and Jacob Brown (Timmins Rock) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending April 2.

NOAH METIVIER, (G) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS – The 19-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product won both of his starts last week to help Greater Sudbury close out their playoff series with Espanola.

Metivier provided a NOJHL-best .946 save percentage in the time frame, while posting a goals-against average of 2.00.

Dating back to last season, he sports a league postseason record of 12-3, including going 8-1 in his past nine appearances.

LANDON MILLER, (G) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – The rookie netminder posted a 1.98 goals-against average in three starts last week, helping the Thunderbirds secure their series against rival Blind River, which saw him collect two victories, while his lone setback came in overtime.

Seeing 182 minutes of game action, the 17-year-old from Thornhill, Ont., currently shares the league-lead in playoff triumphs with four.

Miller’s efforts versus the Beavers helped the Thunderbirds win a fourth straight postseason series.

JACOB BROWN, (G) TIMMINS ROCK – The first-year goalkeeper did his part, helping Timmins tame a persistent French River Rapids side and advance to the NOJHL East final against Powassan.

Brown had a 2.00 average and a .931 save mark in picking up victories in both his starts.

The 17-year-old stopper, from Yarker, Ont., is 3-0 to date in the playoffs and sports a league-best GAA of 1.33, along with a .947 save percentage, and has posted the lone shutout, so far in the postseason.
