SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that the forward duo of Anthony Boyes (Powassan Voodoos) and Joseph Coates (Espanola Paper Kings), along with goaltender Glen McInnes (Kirkland Lake Gold Miners), have been named its initial 3 Stars of the Week for the 2025-26 season.
Anthony Boyes, (F) Powassan Voodoos – The 19-year-old Boyes, who is a product of his hometown North Bay Trappers minor hockey program, kicked off his second NOJHL campaign pacing Powassan offensively in a pair of season-opening victories over the weekend.
He tallied twice in each win, that included a couple of man advantage efforts and added a shorthanded marker, along with an assist.
Dating back to last season, Boyes has scored eight times in his past nine contests.
Joseph Coates, (F) Espanola Paper Kings – Making an immediate impact through the opening week of play, Coates led all league skaters in offensive production.
The 20-year-old from Belleville, Ont., lit the lamp five times over the course of three games for Espanola and dished out a trio of helpers, with the Paper Kings beginning their year with a pair of wins against one defeat.
Coming out of the Quinte Red Devils under-18 system, Coates spent the past two years with the Frankford Huskies (PJCHL) averaging well over a point-per-game prior to arriving in Espanola.
Glen McInnes, (G) Kirkland Lake Gold Miners – Collecting triumphs in his initial two NOJHL starts, McInnes backstopped the Gold Miners to their first 2-0 start in a season since back in September of 2016.
In all, the 19-year-old netminder from Frankford, Ont., boasted a solid 1.50 goals-against average, along with an equally sharp .952 save percentage, while making his league debut.
McInnes also comes out of the Quinte Red Devils U18 AAA organization and has previous Jr. A experience, seeing 19 games in the OJHL.
